SHELBYVILLE, Ind. — A one-vehicle accident in Shelby County took the life of a New Castle woman on Friday around 7:20 p.m.
A report from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department says that Heather Poe, 26, was eastbound on State Road 44, when traffic slowed. She apparently braked hard, lost control, crossed the centerline and was struck by a vehicle driven by James Brown, of Centerville. Poe died at the scene. Brown and a passenger were treated for minor injuries.
The report continued to say that witnesses told police a pair of motorcycles trying to pass westbound traffic may have contributed to the incident. Both motorcycles were cruising style bikes, each with a male driving and a female on the back. Anyone that can help identify the motorcycles is asked to call 317-398-6661.
