COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office announced this week a change in the system of inmate mail. Effective October 14, 2022, HomeWAV will partner with “TextBehind,” a new mail management provider at the Bartholomew County Jail (BCJ).
Going forward, TextBehind will photocopy all appropriate physical mail and deliver it digitally to the correctional facility. All mail will be reviewed and approved by the facility staff. Inmates will continue to receive all mail digitally, through the HomeWAV kiosk.
All appropriate physical mail must be sent to the official TextBehind mailing address to be photocopied before being forwarded to BCJ and uploaded to the HomeWAV kiosk. The TextBehind address is P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131.
To meet standards, every mail envelope sent to an inmate must contain the following information:
- Sender’s complete first and last name. Initials are not acceptable.
- Sender’s complete return address.
- Inmate’s complete first and last name. Initials are not acceptable.
- Inmate Number.
- Correctional institution full name. Abbreviations are not acceptable.
Any envelope without complete or missing information as specified above, either for the sender, or the inmate will be rejected and discarded UNOPENED without exception.
TextBehind does not accept legal mail, money orders, personal checks, gift cards, or cash in the mail. These unacceptable items will be returned to the sender.
All TextBehind mail will be processed and made available electronically on the available HomeWAV kiosks and/or tablets.
