NORTH VERNON, Ind.–Jennings County High School in North Vernon was placed on lockdown Monday afternoon after receiving a threat. Sgt. Andrew Richmond with the North Vernon Police Department says that a staff member at the school received word by phone that the school building was in danger.
School Resource Officer Matt Staples was immediately notified of the phone call and activated a response plan that included mobilizing on-duty officers to make a security sweep of the school and surrounding area. No active threats were found and the lockdown was lifted. The investigation continues.
