COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus Firefighters were called to 382 Clifty Dr. at approximately 9:10 a.m. on Monday after a report of a storage building on fire behind a residence. Upon arrival, Engine Co. 3 found smoke coming from a 10-by-15-foot building located in the back yard of the home.
Emergency crews found a small fire located in a corner of the structure. Firefighters used a minimal amount of water to extinguish the flames and set up a large ventilation fan to remove smoke from the interior.
Capt. Mike Wilson of the Columbus Fire Department says the official cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. The investigation is ongoing. No injuries were reported and damages to the building are estimated at $500.00.
Agencies that assisted during the incident include the Columbus Police Department, Columbus Regional Health EMS, and the Bartholomew County Emergency Operation Center.
