COLUMBUS, Ind.–The city of Columbus can expect to see a total budget increase of just over $2.5 million for 2019 expenses. Columbus City Council on Tuesday night passed the first reading of the 2019 budget ordinance, giving its approval to spend almost $61 million in the upcoming year.
The major highlights of the financial forecast include adding two additional public school resource officers to Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation middle schools, implementing July’s salary study recommendations for public safety officers and city employees, and funding $9.9 million in capital projects such as road improvements and completing the Public Safety Training facility.
