COLUMBUS, Ind.— The Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting Wednesday celebrating successes in business, civic leadership and education.
Keynote speaker was Aaron Renn of the Manhattan Institute. The urban affairs analyst challenged local businesses to continue to develop as a community.
Faurecia was named company of the year in recognition of its $91 million project in Walesboro and its community service initiatives.
The Edna Folger Teaching Award was given to Mike Riley, who teaches in the C4 program at Columbus North.
Ian Kohen received the Community Service Award for his work with the Columbus Human Rights Commission and the annual Turning Point Dance Marathon.
The annual meeting is the city’s biggest business event of the year with more than 500 chamber members attending.
