COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Columbus man is facing theft and drug charges after he was allegedly caught shoplifting from FairOaks Mall. According to a press release from the Columbus Police Department a store employee saw William Smith, 34, place a pair of shoes in his backpack then leave the store without paying. Officers searched Smith and supposedly found several items that had been stolen from other stores in the mall. After Smith was taken into custody, officers say they found a syringe, meth, and a glass pipe in Smith’s backpack. He is facing charges of theft, possession of meth, possession of a legend drug injection device, and possession of a legend drug smoking device.
