COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus police arrested a local man on drug charges during a traffic stop on Thursday evening. Public relations officer Matt Harris, with the Columbus Police Department (CPD), says officers stopped a vehicle for a minor violation near Eighth and Reed Streets at approximately 7:20 p.m.
After questioning the subject and checking with dispatch, the officers determined that the driver of the vehicle, Kristopher D. Harris, 33, of Columbus, had a suspended driver’s license and a Johnson County warrant for his arrest.
The suspect was placed under arrest. Harris and his car were searched. CPD allegedly found a syringe and a digital scale in the vehicle, as well as methamphetamine in his clothing.
Harris was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was remanded on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine (Level 5 Felony), possession of a legend drug injection device (Level 6 Felony), driving while suspended, and the Johnson County arrest warrant.
