COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Commissioners approved an amendment to the county’s Capital Improvement Plan at their Monday morning meeting. The plan, which utilizes Economic Development Income Tax (EDIT) funds rather than monies from the county’s general fund, was adopted in February 2018 and is applicable through 2019.
The amendment allocates
- $1,243,445 for improvements to county buildings
- up to $15,000 for obtaining two seats on the Columbus Economic Development Board for the calendar year 2019
- up to $250,000 for the railroad crossing overpass on Jonathan Moore Pike
- up to $1,500,000 toward costs and expenses related to the new highway garage
- up to $250,000 for the calendar year 2019 county road improvement projects
- up to $150,000 for the purchase of the site for the new highway garage.
The commissioners determined that EDIT funds received in excess of the amounts listed above and unspent EDIT funds from prior years will be spent on road, structure, and infrastructure improvement.
