FRANKLIN, Ind. — Duke Energy is offering a tool to make sure you have the most efficient light display on the block. The Duke Energy holiday lighting calculator duke-energy.com/energy-education/energy-savings-and-efficiency/holiday-lighting-calculator/?utm_source=SciTech&utm_medium=print-ad&utm_campaign=Holiday%20Lighting%20Calculator will help you make the most out of your display, with the least amount of utility use.
The calculator allows consumers to identify the type of bulb, length of the strand, and how many hours of operation in order to determine estimated energy costs. For example, six 100-bulb sets of large, incandescent bulbs plugged in for six hours per day could add as much as $80 per month to your bill. By comparison, a similar strand of LED bulbs may only increase the same power bill one dollar.
