COLUMBUS, Ind. – The design committee for the Fair Oaks Community Development Corporation met Friday afternoon and established a timeline for selecting a firm to plan the design that will transform the former shopping mall into a vibrant community asset.
A request for proposal was approved and it will be sent to six candidate design planning firms next week. The six companies will have a March 20 deadline to submit their proposals.
The design committee’s timetable of events continues with a walk-through of the facility for candidate firms on March 8. Two to three companies will be approved for interviews on April 17 and 18. The committee will then make its recommendation for a design planning vendor to the Fair Oaks Community Development Corporation.
All candidates need to be open to the involvement of students from the Columbus Signature Academy, which emphasizes project-based learning, and students at the J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program at Indiana University.
