COLUMBUS, Ind.–A fire broke out in a vacant mobile home in Candlelight Village early Friday morning. Captain Mike Wilson of the Columbus Fire Department says the blaze was reported by a neighbor who was walking his dog in the area and called 911 when he noticed flickering light from within the unoccupied structure.
Firefighters arrived a short time later and brought the flames under control. A survey of the residence’s interior showed furnishings and property left behind by the previous tenant, who neighbors believe had vacated the premises approximately two months ago.
Damage to the mobile home was estimated to be $20,000, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
