COLUMBUS, Ind.–Local firefighters responded to a reported tree fire on Sycamore Drive just after 6:30 a.m., on Thursday morning. Captain Mike Wilson of the Columbus Fire Department says when crews arrived at the scene, they discovered the flames had spread to an adjacent wood-constructed storage shed and privacy fence while also posing a significant risk to a nearby apartment complex.
The blaze was brought under control within minutes. Because investigators were not able to locate a definitive ignition source, they ruled the cause of the fire as undetermined. Damages were confined to a structure belonging to the apartment complex and to the storage shed, which contained a lawn mower, lawn and garden items, and bicycles. Total estimates for the damage done by the blaze is said to be $3500.
