FRANKLIN, Ind.–Franklin Community High School is hosting a seminar this Monday that will teach girls to be “S.A.F.E.” The day-long session will provide information about battery, assault, sexual violence, and domestic abuse, plus it will also teach several physical defense tactics to use for personal protection. Nearly 60 senior girls will attend the “Stay Alive With Education” training agenda at FCHS.
The morning session includes classroom training on topics such as avoiding victimization via alcohol consumption, definitions of crimes against women, safe dating, and identifying predatory behaviors. During the afternoon classes, students will be introduced to defense training.
Franklin Community High School teacher and school safety specialist, Kat Sarles, first collaborated with the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation to offer the S.A.F.E. program to their students last year.
