Investigators seek public’s help with Lawrence County fires

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ind. –State and local investigators are asking for community support in finding the person or persons responsible for starting six fires in Bedford and Springville in Lawrence County.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department received reports of multiple fires on March 19. The blazes involved two occupied houses, one vacant mobile home, a church, plus two wildland fires. Investigators with the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s detective division determined they were intentionally set.
Anyone with information about the fires is encouraged to call the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department at 812-275-3316 or the Indiana Arson Hotline at 1-800-382-4628. Callers may receive a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
