FRANKLIN, Ind. — A Jamaican lottery phone scam turned threatening in Johnson County on Tuesday.
A woman received a call saying she had won a large sum of money, but she was required to send money to a man named David Thompson in order to cash in. When the woman declined to send the money, the man told her he knew where she lived and would come over.
A Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy called the number on behalf of the woman and a man answered and denied making the phone call to the woman. Furthermore, the man told the deputy he had just acquired the phone. The deputy told the man to stop calling the woman, and at that point the male hung up.
