INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.–Lilly Endowment Inc. recently awarded the Heritage Fund of Bartholomew County and the Jennings County Community Foundation (JCCF) with matching grants totaling $1.5 million as part of the seventh phase of their Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT) initiative. With GIFT VII, the Lilly is making up to $125 million available to help Indiana community foundations strengthen the towns, cities, and counties they serve. Heritage Fund will receive $1 million and JCCF will be given $500,000.
Both organizations can use this matching fund grant to build their financial assets and support charitable activities. The Endowment will provide $2 for every $1 contributed to their unrestricted endowments during the matching period, now through December 31, 2020. In order to support the operating needs or specific community/charitable projects, Heritage Fund and JCCF will receive 50 cents for every $1 raised during the matching period for these purposes.
These grants also make the two nonprofits eligible to receive an additional $100,000 unrestricted grant if the foundation achieves 100 percent financial support from their respective board members during the period of January 1, 2019, through June 30, 2020.
