FRANKLIN, Ind. — The Johnson County Council has approved a full-time mental health counselor for the Johnson County Jail.
The jail is increasing the current counselor’s hours from 12 to 40 hours a week. The position is contracted through Advanced Correctional Health Care which also provides medical care and supplies for inmates.
“One thing the sheriff never wants to see is a death in this jail,” said Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox. “We think we can prevent some of those deaths by providing more mental health treatment.”
