Johnson Co. pursuit ends in arrest

Kevin Cabe

FRANKLIN, Ind. – On Monday around 3:15 a.m., Deputy Christopher Baldwin of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a  vehicle for a speeding violation at Smith Valley and Mullinix Road but he says the vehicle failed to stop. Baldwin pursued the vehicle through several neighborhoods before he lost it and the search was called off. The Greenwood Police Department later found the car after it hit a tree.

The sheriff’s office received a call about a suspicious person at the Speedway station on Smith Valley Road and responded to find Terry Schmidt Degal, who told deputies that Kevin Cabe was the driver of the vehicle that had fled.

At 7:39 a.m., law enforcement received another call of a suspicious person inside a residence, but when they arrived the man was gone.

Several officers from the sheriff’s department and the Center Grove Police Department finally apprehended Kevin Cabe, 27, of Indianapolis, in the area of Brentridge Parkway. He was arrested for residential entry, resisting law enforcement, and previous warrants.

Johnson County Sheriff Duane Burgess says Center Grove Schools were on lockdown during the incident.
