GREENWOOD, Ind. — The Johnson County prosecutor is investigating a case involving neglect of a dependent.
Deputies were called to the intersection of Stormhaven Way and Havenridge Pass around 10:40 p.m. Thursday to check a report of a young child walking in the roadway.
Police found a concerned neighbor holding the shoeless child because the sidewalks and pavement were very hot. The neighbor told police she had seen the same child wandering in the neighborhood wearing just a diaper a few weeks ago.
Due to the child’s age, she was unable to communicate where she lived or what her name was.
Police were able to determine the child was from a residence on Windswept Way. Officers questioned a male that had been sleeping at the home. During questioning police determined the child was two years old and had not eaten in at least 15 hours.
The child was turned over to the grandmother. The Johnson County Prosecutor will determine if charges will be filed.
