Matthew G. Ratliff (1)

COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) arrested a local man on seven felony drug charges after the vehicle he was riding in was pulled over Sunday evening. Patrolmen stopped a vehicle in the 1500 block of Union Street for a minor violation around 9:35 p.m.

While speaking with the occupants, officers say they detected the odor of burnt marijuana. After conducting a search of the car, officers say they located cocaine inside. They also allegedly found narcotics and drug paraphernalia in the possession of Matthew G. Ratliff, 37, of Columbus, who was a passenger in the vehicle. Police say the objects included a digital scale, multiple cell phones, and a large amount of currency.

Ratliff was taken into custody, transported to Bartholomew County Jail, and charged with dealing methamphetamine, dealing heroin, dealing cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, and trafficking with an inmate.

CPD public relations officer Matt Harris says Ratliff was also arrested on January 11 for several drug-related charges during a reported shoplifting incident at a Columbus Walmart.
