COLUMBUS, Ind. – A plate of homemade cookies, delivered to Columbus Fire Department Station #6, represents one man’s gratitude for what CFD personnel at that location did to save his life earlier this year.
In May of this year, Kyil McCauley went into cardiac arrest while at his home. The team of first responders was quickly on the scene to administer CPR and advanced life support measures to him. He was stabilized and transported to Columbus Regional Health for bypass surgery.
A month later, he showed up at the fire station with the plate of cookies. The paramedics said it was quite rare, but gratifying, to be sitting with a former patient.
