NORTH VERNON, Ind.–Patrolmen with the North Vernon Police Department made an arrest during a routine traffic stop early Tuesday morning. Authorities say that William Michaels, 24, of North Vernon, was stopped for an equipment violation. After a conversation with the officers, he was also suspected to be driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
A search of his car allegedly turned up cannabis, psilocybin mushrooms, digital scales, and other drug paraphernalia. The driver was taken into custody and transported to Jennings County Jail. Michaels was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of cannabis, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and maintaining a common nuisance.
