BARGERSVILLE, Ind. – An elderly Bargersville woman is the latest victim in what law enforcement officers are calling the Grandparent scam. Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox said a 78-year-old woman was called by a criminal impersonating her son, saying he was in jail and that she needed to go to Best Buy to purchase gift cards. Sheriff Cox said she went to the Greenwood Best Buy and bought $4,500 worth of gift cards. Fortunately, deputies say she talked to her real son before delivering the gift cards and Best Buy is trying to work to get her money back.
