COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Plan Commission was briefed Wednesday morning by Columbus Planning Director Jeff Bergman on proposed changes to the zoning ordinance that the city and county have shared since 2008.
The amendments are driven by staff observations, state and federal law, and court cases.
Zoning ordinance changes will be to the regulation of lots with multiple zoning district designations, accessory structures in front yards, placement of cell towers, terminology distinguishing shared houses from sleeping rooms, and other matters.
Bergman said the next step is to “see how the city process goes” and then come back to the county body for a formal resolution.
