SEYMOUR, Ind.–Two accidents temporarily closed Interstate 65 on Tuesday morning between Columbus and Seymour, and created havoc for the morning commute between the two cities.
The first crash took place at around 6 a.m. A semi, while trying to pass, struck a UPS truck near the 62-mile marker of I-65. The collision brought traffic to a standstill and shut down the northbound lanes for nearly three hours. The UPS truck ended up on its side across both lanes of the interstate, while the semi-truck came to a stop off the side of the expressway. All lanes re-opened around 9 a.m.
The second accident occurred around 8 a.m., when a semi hit a concrete barrier just south of Exit 55 on the southbound side of I-65, shutting down only the left lane.
