SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. – An overworked judicial system in Shelby County could soon have some relief in the form of a magistrate. State Rep. Sean Eberhart said Shelby County’s three judges are doing the work of four and a new magistrate will ensure an efficient administration of justice. Magistrates conduct court proceedings, handle minor offenses and preliminary hearings for more serious offenses. Governor Eric Holcomb will now look at the bill for consideration.
