COLUMBUS, Ind. — Thieves broke into the Columbus Child Care Center this past weekend and took a riding lawnmower. The manager of the non-profit is looking for help from the public to recover the property.
Sometime between Thursday, September 22, and Sunday, September 25, the lock on the tool storage area on the east side of the building was compromised and entry was made. Thieves managed to get away with a very distinctive Husqvarna riding lawnmower valued at over $1,800. The mower is the signature Husqvarna orange and black, with a 42-inch wide cutting deck. Detectives are reviewing surveillance and processing information from the scene.
The Columbus Child Care Center provides child care to working families in the area and is operated on a very lean budget. Any information that could lead to the return of the property would be greatly appreciated. Information can be left confidentially by calling the center at 812-372-3232 or the Columbus Police Department at 812-376-2600.
