COLUMBUS, Ind. – At the Columbus Area Metropolitan Planning Organization Policy Board’s Monday afternoon meeting, amendments were approved to its Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and its Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP).
Both the LRTP and the TIP were revised to include ColumBUS Transit’s TAMP (Transit Asset Management Plan). That program will include targets for rolling stock, equipment, and facilities as asset performance measures, as required to receive federal funds, and will be updated annually.
The addition of travel lanes to Interstate 65, between State Roads 46 and 58, required CAMPO to amend the LRTP to include the project because it will use a U.S. Department of Transportation grant to the Indiana Department of Transportation. Preliminary engineering is slated for this year and construction for 2021.
The proposed bicycle/pedestrian facility along the downtown riverwalk and the quiet zones at four downtown locations along the Louisville and Indiana railroad were removed from the TIP due to a change in funding.
