COLUMBUS, Ind. – At the Thursday meeting of the Columbus Utilities Service Board, Columbus City Utilities director Scott Dompke presented the draft version of the 2019 financial plan. He grouped the organization’s goals into three categories: “gotta do’s,” “oughta do’s” and “wanna do’s,” stressing that he wanted to see strategy geared toward more resources for the latter.
Examples of undertakings in the “wanna-do” category are working with the city on economic development projects such as the Riverwalk, eliminating septic systems, and vehicle and equipment replacement.
Dompke also noted that the recent base pay study, which mirrored the one undertaken by the city, had a big impact on the organization’s financial picture. In July, 27 employees received raises, bringing them to the minimum level established by the study. The plan is to move them to the midpoint level within three years.
